Stories That Move: Unconventional Parenting

Being a mother has always been one of my most important roles. But in September 2024, that role took on a new dimension. I received my son Murilo’s diagnosis: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), support level 2.

And along with the diagnosis came a whirlwind of emotions, including a question that echoed in my mind every day: how could I balance it all? How could I be a mother, a professional, a daughter, and a leader in the face of a new, intense, and unfamiliar routine? The answer didn’t come all at once. It was built, day by day, with support. Murilo began an intense journey of therapies, Monday through Friday.

With dedication, love, and continuous support, we saw significant progress: in one year, we reduced his support level without medication. But this achievement isn’t ours alone. It’s also the result of a workplace that welcomes, listens, and takes action. I had—and continue to have—the support of my leadership, as well as a space that fosters empathy and learning through diversity and inclusion initiatives.

This network made all the difference! Because, in practice, transitioning from mediator to protagonist of one’s own story isn’t simple. It requires courage, adaptability, and, above all, support. Companies that understand this journey and support their employees not only empower people; they build truly healthy environments. And that changes everything!
