The initiative combines information, onboarding, and technical evaluation to promote inclusion and improve the company’s internal processes
Aeris is holding “Aeris Blue Week” through April 10, an initiative exclusively for employees who wish to determine whether they meet the criteria for being classified as a Person with a Disability (PWD) under current law. Led by the company’s Medical Center, the initiative combines guidance, clinical evaluation, and a program of content dedicated to raising awareness about inclusion, with a focus on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Promoted by the Diversity and Inclusion Committee, the initiative reinforces a broader effort by Aeris to build an increasingly inclusive organizational culture, while also enhancing its internal processes based on technical criteria, legal certainty, and operational efficiency—the central pillars of the company’s strategy.

In practice, interested employees should schedule an appointment at the Aeris Medical Center. During the consultation, the occupational physician conducts a clinical and documentary evaluation, reviewing any tests and reports submitted, and verifying whether the case meets the legal criteria for classification as a person with a disability (PCD), in accordance with the Quota Law (Law No. 8,213/1991) and applicable medical guidelines.
Cases of physical, hearing, visual, and intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and multiple disabilities may be evaluated. In some cases, specific tests are required, such as audiometry, an ophthalmological evaluation, or reports issued by specialists, such as psychiatrists and neurologists. Nevertheless, the final validation is always performed by the occupational physician, based on technical and legal criteria.
As part of the week’s program, Aeris is also hosting a series of lectures focused on providing information, raising awareness, and delving deeper into the topic of inclusion. Among the events is an opening session discussing the rights guaranteed by law for people with disabilities, as well as a lecture titled “Don’t Underestimate the Invisible,” offering reflections on daily experiences and inclusion. Closing out the program, neurologist Dr. Marcelo Pinheiro will speak on “Autism throughout life: information, empathy, and inclusion in daily life,” broadening understanding of the spectrum and its practical implications.
Upon being recognized as a person with a disability (PWD), the employee is formally included in the company’s diversity and inclusion policies, while also contributing to compliance with legal guidelines and the creation of a more equitable and representative environment.
“When we organized Blue Week, we sought to broaden understanding of inclusion while ensuring that this process is carried out with technical rigor and responsibility. It is an initiative that combines welcoming, information, and consistency, allowing the company to evolve in its culture and make more informed decisions that have a real impact on people’s daily lives,” says Mara Fernandes, Murilo’s non-biological mother and Aeris’s Communications and Social Responsibility Coordinator.
